Looking for an alternative to react-rte that has tables and images

We have been using react-rte for years, its great. Infact I'm writing this using one right now on our formition blog page. We use mition.

Anyhow, we had a client who required some HTML tables within the WYSIWYG and the react-rte just would not cut it. Support for it is also a little behind as its has not been updated for years.

Then I began the tedius task of finding an alternative. What a rort! Some are charging you per end user, what!!! Costs were looking like $7000 a year+

Others were putting limits on how many times you could use the editor, like 1000 times a month, then pay $40 for each time you hit 1000. We would reach that limit 3 time a day! 30 times alone just editing this page.

Luckily, after 2 days of searching I found https://lexical.dev/

Go checkout the playground:
https://playground.lexical.dev/

It allows you to paste HTML tables in. It allows you to paste images, but really only from other HTML pages and it only copies the HTML (it does not embed the image), which is what you would expect. I liked how you can see which row you are targeting. We will definitely be researching this product further and I will report back with more information on the highs and lows!

It is completely open source too:
https://github.com/facebook/lexical/tree/main/packages/lexical-playground

Hopefully it has everything you need to complete your clients requirements.

And a shameless plug, go check out our enterprise CMS mition.com

I hope that helps! Leave a comment if it helped you or if you have any questions or need a consultant!
